  • Items and stock
  • Sales orders and invoices
  • Other sales and purchasing documents
  • Activities and sales opportunities
  • User-defined fields and tables

Access paths

  • Service Layer (OData)The Service Layer is a REST-based application server built on HTTP and OData. A session is opened and sets such as business partners, items and orders are queried. The Service Layer must be installed and reachable; license scope should be confirmed with your SAP partner.
  • SQLQuery and SQL viewsFlexible SQL queries can be defined through the Service Layer. Exposing custom SQL views as OData applies only to the Microsoft SQL Server edition.SAP HANA and SQL Server syntax differ.
  • DI API (COM/SDK)The DI API shares the same business object definitions as the Service Layer. It suits local, Windows-based applications.

Worth knowing

  • Installing and exposing the Service Layer usually requires your SAP partner or IT administration.
  • Older and newer OData versions are both supported; which one is used depends on your installation.
  • SQL behavior differs between the SAP HANA and SQL Server editions; separate queries may be needed.
  • Licensing, user types and access terms for cloud (SAP-hosted) setups could not be verified; confirm with SAP or your partner.
How-to

How to connect SAP Business One to WhatsApp.

  1. 01

    Identify version and database

We identify your SAP Business One version and database (SQL Server or HANA). We check whether the Service Layer is installed and which OData version it offers.

  2. 02

    Choose the access route

The Service Layer is usually chosen for WhatsApp; SQLQuery or SQL views may suit bulk reports. The choice follows the route your installation offers.

  3. 03

    Permissions and read test

A separate SAP user with read-only authorization is defined. Business partners, orders and items are tried with small queries.

  4. 04

    Go live

The Service Layer is published only over TLS and a restricted network path. The session is reused, query volume is limited, and license scope is confirmed with your partner.

The most common questions about setup, software and security.

Can’t find your answer?Write to us and we will reply the same day. Contact us
01Is the Service Layer required to connect SAP Business One to WhatsApp?

The Service Layer is SAP's REST/OData-based access route and is usually the best fit for a web-based layer. The DI API is an alternative, but it suits local Windows applications better.

02Do the SQL Server and HANA editions of SAP Business One differ?

The Service Layer works on both databases. However, exposing SQL views as OData is specific to the SQL Server edition, and separate SQL may be needed for each.

03Can totals such as balances be queried through the Service Layer?

The Service Layer supports OData aggregation and grouping options. For calculated balance fields, version and database support should be tested first.

04How is a SAP Business One session managed?

A session is opened with user and company database details and expires after a set time. The session is therefore reused and renewed when it expires.

05What if SAP Business One is offline or slow?

The customer is told that the information is not available right now and the conversation is handed to your team. No answer is made up from old data.

06How long does setup take?

A single flow (for example stock and price enquiries) is usually live within days; wider setups are added step by step. Setup is remote, anywhere in Turkey.
